The Rigbees: Rod "Rodzilla" West

Raised (and still living) in Southern New Jersey, Rod watched his Uncle Bruce sit on the floor in his faded jeans and headband strumming his acoustic guitar and howling out Beatles and Stones tunes. He also watched his grandma jam out on the Alley Cat on the piano. So naturally, when he was 6 years old, Rod began his pursuit of music by taking piano lessons.

A couple of years later, he asked for a drum kit for his birthday, but got a bicycle. So he stuck with piano. Nowadays, he enjoys home recording, writing on his acoustic guitar and whatever noise-making devices he can get his hands on.

Rod's influences include Rick Wakeman, Keith Emerson, and Chick Chorea. He was also a Beatles, Stones, and Elvis child, and enjoys the contemporary stylings of Beck, the Beastie Boys, Stone Temple Pilots, Cake, Bare Naked Ladies, Bruce Springsteen, Star Sailor, Marah, Houston McCoy, and numerous other rock acts.

While away from his Rhodes piano, Rod enjoys making and watching movies, developing Web sites, and reading. "I'm an 'info-holic,'" he admits. "Errrrr."
